Opportunity Overview
The Nextest Business Unit (San Jose, CA) of Teradyne is seeking a Senior Engineering Project Manager. Nextest is the market leader in Semiconductor Memory Test. The memory in your electronic devices was likely tested using our equipment. These systems involve advanced electronics, mechanical packaging, active cooling, and complex software. As a Project Manager, you will lead multi-site, multi-discipline, cross-functional teams in an innovative, collaborative environment to define and deliver committed prototypes, demonstrations, and/or products. You will manage execution, scope changes, risks, tradeoffs, expectations, and communications to successfully deliver to the agreed scope, schedule, budget, and quality. You will drive and monitor all day-to-day project work, resolving problems quickly. You will escalate and drive issues outside the project team’s control through the management chain for rapid resolution. You will lead project and phase gate approval reviews, providing clear and concise written and verbal communication to all levels of the project team and stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Lead multi-site, multi-discipline, cross-functional teams in an innovative, collaborative environment to define and deliver committed prototypes, demonstrations, and/or products.
- Successfully deliver to the agreed scope, schedule, budget, and quality while managing execution, scope changes, risks, tradeoffs, expectations, and communications.
- Drive and monitor all day-to-day project work, making sure that problems are resolved quickly.
- Escalate and drive issues that are out of the project team’s control through the management chain for rapid resolution.
- Lead project and phase gate approval reviews, providing clear and concise written and verbal communication to all levels of the project team and stakeholders.
- Run and monitor budgets for key engineering projects by tracking material requisitions, ensuring material is delivered, and generating reports on budget status.
- Depending upon the scope of the project, support the Engineering NPI process by creating and monitoring schedules and budgets, generating periodic reports on project status, progress, and plans, and working with cross-functional teams to ensure projects meet goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- Experience managing complex technical projects with electromechanical design and software elements in a product development environment on aggressive TTM timelines.
- 10+ years of technical project management and product development experience required.
- Experience as a hands-on engineer in hardware, software, or mechanical engineering.
- Experience managing complex, lengthy projects.
- Lead cross-functional teams of 10–20 people, ~12-month duration, possibly across multiple geographic locations.
- Self-motivated, accountable individual with strong commitment to meeting personal and team goals as well as professional development.
- Strong expertise in systematic problem-solving approaches.
- Competency to lead and drive complex decisions.
- Excellent organizational and written / verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows.
- Proficient in Microsoft Project (setup, tracking, reporting).
- Proficient in Excel / Word / PowerPoint for project tracking and communication.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to set goals, schedules, and resolve problems.
Qualifications

Pay
The base salary range for this role is $154,500 - $247,200. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
