Sr. Project Manager - Refining

About the Role

Generally responsible for supervision and technical direction over a team of engineers and designers engaged in the total delivery of services on time, within performance budget and quality expectations. This work requires extensive progressive experience in project management and involves the utilization of project controls for cost, schedule, and quality of projects, performed under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently manage promotional projects, minimizing costs by working with Engineering Resource Leaders to accurately estimate professional service man-hours while achieving project objectives.
• Successfully manage commercial contract(s) on one or more projects of various sizes, ensuring timely invoice payments, processing Project Change Notices, reviewing the monthly Office Earnings Report (OER), and keeping the project plan in Vision current.
• Maintain control of the project by tracking discipline performance budget progress, schedule commitments, and quality standards using established project tools.
• Validate professional service and construction estimates at the project's start and track changes as the project progresses.
• Participate in development of all major technical, cost, scheduling, and performance decisions.
• Gain familiarity with project scope, specifications, deliverables, and design criteria upon assignment, aligning the Hargrove team on schedule and budget regarding required deliverables.
• Work with the client team to define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly by championing the Project Change Notice process and promoting a positive Change Management culture.
• Lead the effort in building a productive team both within Hargrove and with the client, utilizing rewards to recognize outstanding contributions.
• Coordinate resource requirements with other ongoing project work to align all parties' expectations.
• Plan and organize the team's work, communicating the plan to the team, project leadership, and the client, and aligning expectations. Conduct weekly coordination meetings.
• Maintain timely and accurate reporting, including weekly and monthly reports, using a comprehensive action item list.
• Review engineering documents, vendor submittals, fabrication drawings, and other construction submittals for compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, good engineering practice, and project objectives.
• Ensure all documentation is reviewed and checked against vendor submittals, specifications, and interdiscipline requirements, regardless of resource location.
• Ensure standard project work processes are followed by all team members through all phases of engineering, procurement, and construction.
• Interview discipline leads to maintain up-to-date progress against man-hour expended analysis, recognizing overall financial health responsibility for each project.
• Assess the performance of project team members and work with resource leadership to organize a qualified and motivated team.
• Ensure project documentation is properly reviewed and approved by the client.
• Provide Construction Phase Support, start-up assistance, and respond to Requests for Information as needed.
• Manage timeliness of client team decision-making and package approval.
• Promote continuing positive relations with the client, building on long-term relationships to add additional services.
• Complete project closeout as required by the client and Hargrove work procedures.
• Participate in planning training programs, continuous education opportunities, and professional development of staff.
• Effectively and proactively manage the client at all stages of the project.

Requirements

• Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering from an accredited university (preferred).
• Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (highly preferred).
• 15+ years of relevant experience in engineering and project management.

Pay

The typical base salary range for this position is $210,000 to $250,000 annually, applicable for jobs performed in California. Actual compensation will be based on education, experience, skill set, and location.
