Sr. Project Manager / Project Engineer - Water, Wastewater and Utilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of large-scale water, wastewater, and utility capital projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to technical specifications.
  • Lead and review engineering designs, feasibility studies, and technical specifications for pumping stations, treatment plants, distribution networks, and collection systems.
  • Manage construction phases, including contractor selection, change orders, site inspections, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC).
  • Act as the primary liaison with municipal clients, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, resource allocations, and risk mitigation strategies.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil or architectural Engineering with a minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in engineering design and construction management for complex infrastructure projects.
  • Specialization: Proven track record specifically managing water, wastewater, and public utilities capital projects.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Michigan (or immediate reciprocity).
  • Certification: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience working on municipal infrastructure projects within the City of Detroit or the surrounding Metro Detroit area.
  • Established relationships with local regulatory bodies, such as GLWA (Great Lakes Water Authority) or EGLE (Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy).
