About the Role

The IT Sr. Project Manager acts as a strategic partner to IT and Business leadership, translating complex business strategies into executable technology roadmaps. This role is responsible for maximizing business value by optimizing the delivery of either individual projects or project portfolios within a given tech stack, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. You will lead the analysis and optimization of the costs, resources, technologies, and processes for all projects within the assigned portfolio.

In this critical leadership role, the Sr. Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a diverse project portfolio that bridges physical infrastructure and operational technology services. The portfolio includes high-stakes "bricks and mortar" construction projects—such as building out network and A/V infrastructures for new offices or managing complex moves and expansions—and technology innovation initiatives. Additionally, this role ensures the operationalization of projects within the ITSM practice, BC/DR program, and the Global Tech Support Desk.

Responsibilities

  • Champion agile transformation, drive cross-functional collaboration, and lead high-impact initiatives from concept to launch, including end-user and third-party provider activities pertaining to the design, development, testing, documentation, and implementation of application products and services.
  • Mentor teams, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and ensure technology investments deliver measurable ROI.
  • Drive the end-to-end implementation of robust security solutions, ensuring strict adherence to deadlines and budget constraints while maintaining the highest standards of data protection.
  • Proactively assess project risks and apply industry-standard information security program frameworks to safeguard the integrity of outcomes, supporting governance structures that authorize projects throughout their lifecycle.
  • Act as a key liaison to manage strategic security initiatives, ensuring technical execution aligns seamlessly with broader organizational goals and evolving security standards.
  • Coordinate the efforts of internal IT teams, third-party contractors, and security consultants to deliver complex security programs without disrupting business operations.
  • Masterfully allocate resources and optimize project portfolios to maximize risk-adjusted value, ensuring the right security initiatives are prioritized and staffed effectively.
  • Apply robust background in project management and information security (CISSP highly desirable) to translate complex security needs into actionable, executed project plans.
  • Partner with PMO leadership to drive data-driven portfolio decisions, establishing rigorous go/no-go criteria that align investment with business strategy.
  • Evaluate project value to prioritize and allocate resources effectively, ensuring work begins at the optimal time.
  • Develop project sequencing and timing, considering resource constraints and interdependencies.
  • Assess resource utilization against available capacity and allocate resources accordingly.
  • Transform raw project data into actionable insights for executive leadership, providing transparency into portfolio health, value realization, and strategic alignment.
  • Evaluate, measure, and track project benefits at the portfolio level.
  • Clearly communicate all aspects of project and portfolio progress to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assess and manage portfolio-level risks, dependencies, and critical paths.
  • Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  • Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze business requirements, translating them into clear, actionable user stories.
  • Assist the Product Owner in managing and prioritizing the product backlog, ensuring stories are well-defined, appropriately sized, and ready for development.
  • Act as a bridge between the development team and business stakeholders, clarifying requirements and fostering a shared understanding of project goals and scope.
  • Create and maintain essential documentation, including user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows.
  • Partner with the development team to define test cases and acceptance criteria, and lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Ensure projects meet business requirements and compliance standards (e.g., security, privacy, and regulatory).
  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Standup, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective, ensuring their productivity and adherence to time-boxes.
  • Coach and mentor the development team on agile principles and Scrum practices, promoting self-organization and cross-functionality to increase velocity, quality, and predictability.
  • Proactively identify, track, and help the team remove roadblocks and impediments.
  • Guide the team in process improvement through retrospectives and by fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Track and report on key metrics like milestones, deliverables, and agile metrics (e.g., burndown charts, velocity) to provide transparency into team performance and progress.
  • Document lessons learned and conduct post-project evaluations.
  • Support and maintain the governance structure to evaluate, authorize, and monitor projects as they pass through the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with organizational standards.
  • Utilize advanced techniques to identify and manage the optimal grouping of projects to maximize risk-adjusted portfolio value while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Analyze and report on the overall portfolio's health, value, and progress, providing high-level visibility to senior leadership for informed decision-making.
  • Assess the risk nature of individual projects and proactively manage consolidated portfolio-level risks to safeguard the success of the broader technology roadmap.
