About the Role
The EPC Project Manager is responsible for the oversight of engineering responsibilities for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) activities on combined cycle power plant projects. This role ensures engineering deliveries comply with project contractual, technical, environmental, and regulatory requirements. The EPC Project Manager-Engineering serves as the primary interface for engineering deliveries related to project procurement, construction, and commissioning, resolving engineering issues with contractors, suppliers, and commissioning personnel.
Responsibilities
- Engineering Project Leadership: Direct all phases of project engineering for EPC execution from notice-to-proceed through commercial operation. Develop and implement project engineering execution strategies, lead interdisciplinary engineering teams, and establish project engineering objectives, KPIs, and performance metrics.
- Engineering Management: Oversee detailed engineering activities for combined cycle power plants. Ensure design compliance with owner requirements, codes, standards, and permits. Coordinate engineering disciplines, manage design reviews, value engineering, and technical risk assessments.
- Engineering for Procurement: Provide engineering support for procurement of long-lead and critical equipment. Assist with supplier selection, contract negotiations, and vendor performance.
- Engineering for Construction Management: Coordinate engineering support for site construction activities. Assist in resolving site technical and commercial issues.
- Engineering for Contract Administration: Manage engineering EPC contract obligations and commercial risk. Review and negotiate change orders to ensure contractual deliverables.
- Engineering for Risk Management: Identify project risks and opportunities. Develop mitigation plans for technical, commercial, construction, and safety risks.
- Engineering for Commissioning & Startup: Assist with pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and performance testing. Coordinate system turnover and plant handover activities. Support transition to operations and maintenance teams.
- Engineering for Stakeholder Management: Assist with owners, lenders, regulators, and project stakeholders. Provide support for project review meetings and steering committee presentations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience managing EPC projects in power generation, energy, or heavy industrial sectors.
- 5+ years of experience with Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plants.
- Strong knowledge of EPC contracting models and project delivery methods.
Qualifications
- PMP Certification (preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) License (preferred).
- Experience with major OEM equipment (preferred).
