About the Role

Manage transmission, substation, distribution, gas, and/or information technology projects involving cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines and operating areas, including contract resources. Responsible for managing the scope, schedule, budget, and safety performance of multiple projects and programs, with budgets typically ranging from $250K to $15 million. May also manage business initiative projects with direct accountability for execution while leading a team to accomplish objectives within limited resources.

Position may require extended hours during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible and accountable for overall project performance, including major transmission, substation, distribution, and gas construction, new technology programs, information technology, and organizational initiatives.
  • Ensure project costs, schedule, and scope are managed, including developing recovery plans to stay within approved limits.
  • Interface with external and internal stakeholders to coordinate project requirements.
  • Primary communicator with sponsors and key stakeholders on project issues, including executive-level and interdepartmental presentations.
  • Ensure a good working relationship between the project team, line managers, and interfacing organizations.
  • Coach and lead team members to ensure completion of assigned tasks.
  • Identify and obtain project team resources; ensure team members understand their responsibilities.
  • Tasks may include business case development, budgetary approvals, project scheduling, requirements engineering, design and engineering, vegetation management reviews, project reporting, financial analysis, major equipment procurement, environmental analysis, real estate acquisition, and relationship management with external customers, vendors, townships, and regulatory agencies.
  • Interact routinely with key stakeholders, including senior management, utility customers, governmental and regulatory officials.

Requirements

  • For construction project management: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and 4-7 years of relevant project management experience, OR High School Diploma and 6-9 years of relevant project management experience.
  • For non-construction project management: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field and 4-7 years of relevant project management experience, OR High School Diploma and 6-9 years of relevant project management experience.
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or achieve CAPM within two years of job entry (PMP certification fulfills this requirement).
  • Demonstrated success at managing projects.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team leader, handling conflicting priorities in a multitask environment.
  • Strong independent judgment, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to an automobile.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering (or advanced technical degree) or Business Administration.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Professional Engineer License.
  • Experience or knowledge of DER, Solar, or Battery in utility design, planning, or construction.
