Sr. Project Manager

About the role

The Information Technology Specialist II (ITS II) independently manages the most complex analytical tasks related to independent oversight of information technology (IT) projects. Responsibilities include project management, scope management, time management, cost management, quality management, human resource planning, communications management, risk management, and project procurement.

Responsibilities

• Reviews legislation and evaluates potential effects on Department of Justice (DOJ) processes.
• Identifies implications for program operations and data practices.
• Translates legal or policy requirements into clear, actionable steps.
• Collaborates with DOJ Program Divisions, the Legal Division, Legislative Affairs, and Executive Leadership.
• Manages sensitive information, handles high visibility requests, and provides recommendations that influence DOJ planning, compliance decisions, and public transparency initiatives.
• Prepares periodic formal reports and other relevant documents to control agencies such as Department of Finance, California Department of Technology, and Department of General Services.
• Prepares and assists staff in the preparation of Project Approval Lifecycle deliverables, Special Project Reports, and Post Implementation Evaluation Reports, and Financial Analysis and/or Economic Analysis Project Cost Worksheets.
• Serves as a project manager for delegated, non-delegated medium and high criticality projects needed for continued operation of State business processes and/or implementation of legislative mandates.
• Manages the DOJ project resources to move the project towards completion, including resource management including finances, technology, and intellectual property.
• Identifies and manages risks, ensures clear lines of accountability, and provides leadership, motivation, coaching, and inspiration to the project team.

Requirements

The incumbent must have a bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 4 years of progressively responsible experience in information technology project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay

$8,625.00 - $11,557.00 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

Day shift, Monday through Friday.
