About the role
The Senior Project Manager will manage key client relationships, provide sales and proposal management, and lead alternative fueling and permitting projects. This role requires a strong technical background with working knowledge of compressors, pressure vessels, and gas dryers, as well as the ability to present technical information effectively to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Grow the alternative energy services department and manage key client relationships.
- Provide sales, proposal management, and technical leadership on alternative fueling and permitting projects.
- Identify project-specific requirements based on client risk profiles, industry precedents, regulations, and best practices to ensure efficient permitting strategies.
- Coordinate and review technical documents supporting regulatory submissions.
- Develop proposals, manage projects and budgets, and maintain proactive communication with clients, stakeholders, AHJs, and internal staff.
- Oversee project technical work from feasibility (Site Investigation Reports, Preliminary Site Plan development) through pre-commissioning, including design, entitlement, permitting, and construction processes.
- Manage project close-out, including distribution of close-out materials, punch list finalization, and contract paperwork completion.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for clients, managing expectations and translating stakeholder requirements into deliverables.
- Prepare or delegate staffing requirements, schedules, and fee proposals; conduct fee and contractual agreement negotiations.
- Manage subconsultants, including sourcing, directing activities, and ensuring timely, accurate, and budget-compliant deliverables.
- Oversee budget management, billing processes, and collection of client payments; hold clients financially responsible for out-of-scope work.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, work rules, and processes.
- Identify potential technical and execution risks and develop schedule- and budget-conscious alternatives.
- Maintain proactive communication and reporting on project progress to clients and internal leadership.
- Process RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other job-related documentation accurately and promptly.
- Manage QA/QC on projects using a systematic approach.
Requirements
- Ability to interpret contract documents, engineering documents, specifications, and addendums.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage and coordinate project information and documents.
- Ability to engage clients with well-articulated proposals and presentations.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, with a strong sense of urgency and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with standard office software and general computer skills.
- Functioning vehicle, valid CA driver’s license, and insurance.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6–10 years of project management experience, with at least 4 years in an engineering consulting environment (specifically hydrogen and/or electrical).
- B.S. or M.S. in a technical field (e.g., Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Required experience with the full design process: concept, schematics, design development, construction documentation, permitting, bid phase, construction administration, and project close-out.
- Required knowledge of design and construction methods.
- Preferred: PMP Certification.
- Preferred: Comprehensive understanding of building codes and their application to architectural and engineering construction drawings.
Pay
Up to $150,000 annual salary.
