Sr. Project Engineer or Project Manager - Solid Waste

About the role

SCS Engineers is looking for a Design Engineer and/or Project Manager to perform solid waste projects. You can be hybrid in our West Palm Beach or Coconut Creek office. We are looking for a team player with a desire to develop professionally.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications.
• Serve as Engineer of Record on projects for public and private clients primarily in the South Florida market.
• Perform engineering design, client communications, and staff coordination and development.
• Focus on solid waste management projects including landfill gas, landfills and landfill infrastructure, composting, and related work requiring design, engineering, permitting, construction, and operations support.
• Conduct field work such as surveys/data gathering, CQA liner installations, inspections, etc., in varied terrain and weather.
• Perform office‑based tasks including CAD drafting, mathematical calculations, report writing, creating site plans and facility diagrams, and preparing permit applications.
• Engage in business development activities: proposal preparation, client meetings, and attending industry conferences/trade shows.
• Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and obtain supervisory approval on proposed plans or projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Geotechnical Engineering required.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including demonstrated consulting experience in the solid waste industry (landfill gas management, air compliance, landfill design and permitting, etc.).
• Florida P.E. (preferably civil) registration required or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.
• Competent with MS Office and other computer software normally used in environmental consulting.
• Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D design software is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing required.
