Sr. Project Accountant - General Contractor

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial reporting for active construction projects.
• Manage accounts receivable activities, including progress billings, collections, and revenue recognition.
• Analyze project performance, budgets, and job cost trends.
• Prepare owner billings and supporting documentation.
• Review subcontractor billings for accuracy and contract compliance.
• Monitor project costs, change orders, commitments, and cash flow forecasts.
• Collaborate with project managers to identify financial risks and opportunities.
• Support project setup, budgeting, forecasting, and closeout activities.
• Drive process improvements to strengthen reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Serve as a resource for construction accounting and project management software systems.
• Mentor and support accounting team members.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant project accounting experience with a General Contractor.
• Strong understanding of percentage-of-completion accounting and project-based financial reporting.
• Experience with construction accounting and ERP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.
