Sr Program Manager – Central Selection, WWGS (Worldwide Grocery Stores)
About the role
The Worldwide Grocery Stores (WWGS) Central Selection team governs selection strategy and execution across Amazon's grocery portfolio. Operating at the intersection of category management, operations, and technology, the team builds mechanisms and guardrails to ensure each banner delivers a differentiated and complementary customer experience. This role leads critical workstreams including selection analysis and optimization, banner assortment strategy, and selection governance across banners.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, translates complex merchandising problems into structured program plans, and is energized by the pace of grocery retail. You will ensure end-to-end accountability for selection health, from initial strategy and category planning through ongoing optimization, leveraging shared metrics and dashboards across banners.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute location and format-driven selection strategies using competitor benchmarking, capacity inputs, sales analysis, and market data to inform market-specific selection across banners, both online and physical stores.
- Drive automation and leverage AI tools to simplify selection planning processes and improve operational efficiencies.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams and communicate program updates with internal and external stakeholders, including leadership reviews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver results in an ambitious, fast-paced environment, working across many time zones.
Requirements
- 5+ years of program or project management experience.
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements.
- Experience owning program strategy, end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership.
- Experience with selection strategy, category management, or space planning.
- Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with Microsoft Access or SQL.
- 5+ years of experience in business roles requiring data analysis, process improvements, creative problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration.
- High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
- Passionate and knowledgeable about customer behavior.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with databases and SQL.
- Experience leveraging automation and AI tools to streamline operational processes and improve efficiency.
- Ability to analyze data quantitatively and use customer research, data, and metrics to back up assumptions and identify opportunities.
- Experience creating and/or improving operational processes across teams and stakeholders, with a bias toward automation.
- Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results.
Pay
- USA, NY, New York: $127,200.00 - $185,000.00 USD annually
- USA, TX, Austin: $115,600.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually
- USA, VA, Arlington: $115,600.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually
- USA, WA, Seattle: $115,600.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually
