About the role
As Apex’s first Senior Product Manager for Digital Assets, you will set the direction and independently own a net-new business line spanning stable coin funding, tokenization of equities, and crypto trading.
You will identify high-impact opportunities, establish the operating model for a 0-to-1 product organization, oversee end-to-end delivery across design, engineering, data, and go-to-market, lead strategic partnerships with crypto infrastructure providers, and ensure the product meets performance, reliability, and regulatory standards while representing Digital Assets in executive forums and with key clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently own Apex's Digital Assets product line spanning stablecoin funding, tokenization of equities, and crypto trading: define vision, strategy, and a multi-quarter roadmap that delivers material outcomes (revenue growth, client experience, regulatory readiness) and clear decision rights; partner with SMEs across compliance, legal, engineering, and business development to maintain and evolve the roadmap as market and regulatory conditions change.
- Lead discovery by synthesizing client feedback, usage data, market signals, and competitive intelligence in the digital assets space into clear problem statements and hypotheses; translate findings into PRDs/epics; manage the product-level backlog across one or more teams, clarifying scope and sequencing for novel, technically complex capabilities.
- Lead complex, cross-org initiatives spanning engineering, legal, compliance, and business development; influence senior stakeholders and secure resources for the highest-impact digital asset work; align multiple teams on goals, milestones, and accountability.
- Establish and enforce quality, reliability, security, and compliance guardrails appropriate for regulated digital asset products; own product health and SLAs with engineering, including postmortems and remediation for incidents.
- Develop compelling business cases; guide investment decisions and portfolio prioritization across the Digital Assets product area, including build/buy/partner evaluations and ROI modeling for crypto custodians, exchanges, stablecoin issuers, and tokenization platforms.
- Represent the Digital Assets product in executive forums and with key clients; drive alignment and accountability; communicate strategy, regulatory trade-offs, and performance transparently.
- Coach and elevate PMs; review roadmaps/PRDs; raise the bar on discovery, experimentation, and decision quality; mentor on product craft, operating standards, and stakeholder influence within the digital assets domain.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Finance, or a related technical field required; Master’s (e.g., MBA, CS, Engineering) preferred, or equivalent experience.
- 6–8+ years in product management, including independent ownership of a product line or net-new business area.
- History of setting vision and multi-quarter roadmaps, influencing senior stakeholders, and delivering material business outcomes — ideally in a 0-to-1 or new business line context.
- Experience in digital assets, blockchain, or crypto product development at a crypto-native firm or a regulated financial institution; track record establishing operating mechanisms, managing regulatory risk, and leading high-visibility launches.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Systems and portfolio thinking: defines product vision and multi-quarter roadmap for a net-new business line; aligns investments to outcomes across stablecoin, tokenization, and crypto trading domains.
- Executive communication and influence: frames trade-offs and decisions for C-suite and board-level audiences; secures resources and cross-org alignment in a high-ambiguity, 0-to-1 environment.
- Metrics and modeling: sets KPIs/OKRs; models revenue impact and ROI for novel digital asset capabilities; course-corrects based on performance, market dynamics, and regulatory developments.
- Technical and architectural fluency: engages on blockchain/DLT, crypto custody and wallet infrastructure, stablecoin settlement mechanics, tokenization, and crypto exchange/order routing; understands scalability, security, and compliance implications at the architectural level.
- Operational excellence: builds operating mechanisms from scratch; owns product health, SLAs, and postmortems for novel, regulated digital asset infrastructure.
- Strategic partnership management: evaluates and leads relationships with crypto custodians, exchanges, stablecoin issuers, and tokenization platforms; drives build/buy/partner decisions with clear ROI and risk frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep fluency in the digital assets regulatory environment (FinCEN, SEC, CFTC, BitLicense, state money transmission licensing); experience working directly with legal and compliance to ship regulated products.
- Demonstrated ability to present digital assets strategy, trade-offs, and business performance to C-suite and board-level audiences.
- Track record leading major launches of regulated financial products and managing full operational readiness, including partnership integrations with crypto infrastructure providers.
- Background bridging traditional financial services (brokerage, custody, clearing) and digital assets — particularly valuable given Apex’s position as a trusted clearing and custody partner to the industry.
