About the role

As the Sr. Product Manager, Data Center Offerings Portfolio, you will support a strategic segment of the portfolio for the North America Datacenter business unit. This role involves understanding market trends, customer needs, gaps in Trane’s portfolio, and the competitive landscape to initiate new offerings through internal new product development (NPD), sourced products/partnerships, or potential M&A activity.

You will define and adopt the product strategy, lead cross-functional teams (internal and supplier), manage the product lifecycle, develop multigenerational product plans, drive new product development programs, commercialization, customer research, cultivate supplier relationships, and execute go-to-market strategies. Accountability includes meeting or exceeding revenue growth targets, maintaining or growing market share, and expanding margins.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an integral member of the Datacenter Product Management team, expanding Trane’s presence in the datacenter vertical.
  • Support and co-lead a sourced Product Growth Team (PGT) to fill portfolio gaps.
  • Stay actively engaged in the rapidly evolving Datacenter ecosystem, exploring and understanding new technologies.
  • Evaluate "Make vs. Buy" decisions and potential M&A acquisition/partnership opportunities supporting the datacenter vertical.
  • Lead product line strategy, long-range plan development, P&L, and annual operating plans for product lines.
  • Manage tradeoffs between short- and long-term product line performance (revenue, margin, market share).
  • Develop and execute channel strategies to drive growth in market coverage and closure rates.
  • Manage day-to-day needs of product lines and strategic suppliers, focusing on profitable growth opportunities.
  • Develop and execute a multigenerational product plan (MGPP), ensuring alignment with product positioning, pricing, cost, margins, and customer value proposition.
  • Collaborate with other leaders and product managers to align product line strategy with broader system, services, and contracting initiatives.
  • Work with the market research team to understand customer needs and define "Critical to Quality" (CTQ) specifications for product lines.
  • Initiate and support business cases for new product development (NPD) programs aligned with the MGPP.
  • Collaborate with sourced program managers and cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and meeting CTQs.
  • Create and execute marketing and commercialization plans for new product offerings and product enhancements with strategic suppliers.

Requirements

  • More than 5 years of product management or strategic marketing experience.
  • P&L leadership experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; technical degree preferred.
  • MBA highly desired.
  • Experience in datacenters, HVAC industry, and/or Lean methodologies preferred.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a passion for understanding and impacting customer business results.

Pay

Annual base salary range: $113,600.00 - $204,609.99. This is a salaried position with incentive eligibility. The actual compensation will depend on factors such as seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation.
