About the role
The Sr. Product Manager, Data Center Offerings Portfolio will support a strategic segment of the portfolio for the North America Datacenter business unit. This role involves understanding market trends, customer needs, gaps in Trane’s portfolio, and the competitive landscape to initiate new offerings through internal NPD, sourced product/partnership, or potential M&A activity. You will define and adopt product strategy, lead cross-functional teams, manage the product lifecycle, develop multigenerational product plans, drive new product development, commercialization, customer research, supplier relationships, and go-to-market strategy. Accountability includes meeting revenue growth targets, maintaining or growing market share, and expanding margin.

Responsibilities
- Integral team member of the larger Datacenter Product Management team focused on expanding Trane’s presence in the datacenter vertical.
- Support and co-lead a sourced Product Growth Team (PGT) to fill gaps in the portfolio.
- Actively engage in the rapidly evolving Datacenter ecosystem, exploring and understanding new technologies.
- Evaluate Make vs. Buy decisions and possible M&A acquisition/partnership opportunities supporting the datacenter vertical.
- Lead product line strategy, long-range plan development, P&L, and annual operating plan for product lines.
- Manage tradeoffs between short- and long-term product line performance as measured in revenue, margin, and market share.
- Develop and execute channel strategy to drive growth in market coverage and closure rate.
- Actively manage day-to-day needs of the product line and strategic suppliers, focusing on profitable growth opportunities.
- Develop and execute a multigenerational product plan (MGPP) ensuring product positioning, pricing, cost, margins, and customer value proposition align with overall equipment strategy.
- Collaborate with other leaders and product managers to align product line strategy with peer portfolio roadmaps and broader system, services, and contracting initiatives.
- Work with the market research team to understand customer needs and define Critical to Quality (CTQ) specifications for product lines.
- Initiate and support business cases for new product development (NPD) programs that execute elements of the MGPP.
- Collaborate with the sourced program manager and cross-functional product development teams to deliver projects on time, meeting CTQs, and on budget.
- Create and execute marketing and commercialization plans for new product offerings and product enhancements with strategic suppliers.
Requirements
- More than 5 years of product management or strategic marketing experience.
- P&L leadership experience required.
- Bachelor's degree required; technical bachelor’s degree preferred.
- MBA highly desired.
- Experience in Datacenters, HVAC industry, and/or Lean experience preferred.
- Customer bias: Passion for understanding customers and how your domain can positively impact their business results.
Pay
Annual base salary range: $113,600.00 - $204,609.99. This is a salaried position with incentive eligibility. The actual compensation will depend on factors such as seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation.
