About the role

Amcor Rigid Packaging Solutions North America (RPSNA) has an immediate need for a Senior Product Development Engineer. This role will lead the technical aspects of product development projects, working closely with customers, sales, design engineers, project managers, R&D, manufacturing, engineering support services, and product line management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-functional team through the development of new products from concept to manufacturing implementation and commercial launch.
  • Execute the project plan and drive decisions to deliver the project on time, within budget, and within scope.
  • Oversee product and tooling design, including leading ideation sessions, competitive analysis, documenting design requirements, DFMEA, and leading design reviews to gain team alignment.
  • Cook up the Technical Development Plan that outlines all the details necessary for the Product Line Manager to respond to an RFQ or create a Business Case, including all cost inputs, capital equipment costs, and evaluation of the technologies required for the development and manufacturing.
  • Communicate technically with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Report deviations on time, cost, and deliverable project components to senior management as the project progresses.
  • Adhere to Amcor, industry, and/or regulatory procedures as well as Management of Change, Stage Gate, and ISO processes.
  • Collaborate with Quality personnel to establish critical to quality metrics and validate process capability for those metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7+ years of relevant Engineering experience within product development and manufacturing of plastic bottles required.
  • Experience in multi-step processes such as EBM, SBM, & RHB.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge in statistical methods and programs (SPC/DOE/MiniTab).
  • Self-motivated and assertive individual.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, multi-task, think proactively, and be results-oriented.
  • Project Management experience a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for data-driven decisions.

Pay

The starting salary for this position is expected to be between $120,000 to $140,000; however, base pay offered may vary within the full salary range $110,200 to $155,000 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on national averages and a geographic differential may be applied based on work location. Position may also be eligible for Amcor’s Management Incentive Plan / Sales Incentive Plan, which is an annual bonus program based on business and individual performance, as well as medical coverage and other health and welfare benefits.

Schedule

The position may require some domestic travel (~10% - 20%).
