Sr. Product Design Engineer, Data Center Engineering, Electrical Products and Services

About the role

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This team supports all AWS data centers and the equipment that ensures customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on complex problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and are looking for talented people to help.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Data Center Design Engineering, Principal Engineering, and Hardware Engineering teams to design and develop innovative concepts into new products needed for power distribution for data center.
• Lead new product design, development, and work with internal teams to understand design requirements and solicit customer input.
• Collaborate with other disciplines such as mechanical and structural engineering, reliability, QA/QC and compliance to create well thought out products.
• Create designs which meet or exceed our quality requirements while delivering a return on investment.
• Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment, devices and bill of materials.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries.
• Prepare, Review and approval of product design and drawings including electrical bill of materials, configuration, layouts, assembly, construction and electrical wiring drawings.
• Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during manufacturing phases.
• Work with field engineering and commissioning teams to properly set up test processes and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical products.
• Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
• Be a leader within the group as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
• 8+ Years of experience of Electrical Product Design for Power Distribution Equipment or UPS; OR 8+ years of Data Center or Mission-Critical Design, Construction, or Operations

Qualifications

• Professional Engineering or Architectural License
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents

Skills

• Design electrical power distribution product/s
• Help to successfully test the products per latest codes and standards using third party test laboratories
• Define equipment specifications and evaluate the merit of design changes
• Lead international projects
• Develop engineering information packages
