About the role
S&B is seeking a Process Engineer to support their Greenville, SC team. The ideal candidate must demonstrate competence in Process Engineering and the ability to adapt standard methods and procedures independently.
Responsibilities
- Meet with clients' technical staff to develop acceptable processes and control features.
- Conduct field trips to existing plants to gather operating data and equipment information.
- Prepare equipment specifications.
- Communicate process design to clients and other design disciplines.
- Participate in process safety reviews.
- Prepare operators' instruction manuals.
- Participate in contract proposal preparation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Requires a minimum of 10-20 years’ experience in Process/Design Engineering or related functional area.
- Significant experience as a lead process engineer on capital projects is required.
- Registration as a licensed professional engineer is highly preferred (or willingness to obtain registration).
- Experience with Material Handling, Recycled Fibers, Pulping & Bleaching, Papermaking, Power & Recovery processes is essential.
- Specific preferences include experience with WinGEMS process modeling, TAPPI paper machine drive studies, and headbox replacement projects.
Education
Normally requires a four-year degree in Chemical Engineering or Pulp and Paper Engineering.
Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of clients, managers, designers, and engineers.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally conducts or participates in field trips to operating plants or construction sites.
- May lift up to 25 pounds.
