About the role
Tower Semiconductor is seeking a Process Engineer within the Photo department to support sustaining operations, process improvements, process transfers, and development activities in our high-volume manufacturing facility located in San Antonio, TX.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of assigned processes and establish direction for improvements, sustaining, and overall operations
- Work closely with process and integration engineers to improve process metrics (SPC, yield, parametrics, defects) and achieve first-pass success of technology transfers
- Own the selection and qualification of semiconductor processing tools
- Maintain and monitor fab metrics with statistical process control (SPC)
- Conduct root cause investigations of discrepant material and implement yield and defect improvement projects
- Write operating specifications and provide technical training to wafer fab personnel
- Collaborate with equipment engineering to improve uptime and tool utilization
- Diagnose and troubleshoot process and tool excursions
- Identify cost savings opportunities and drive projects to reduce overall costs
- Implement advanced process control to improve Cpk at critical levels
- Develop new semiconductor manufacturing processes using design of experiments (DOE)
Requirements
- Recent Ph.D. graduate, preferably in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Materials Science
- MS Degree with minimum 5 years of hands-on semiconductor experience
- Desirable coursework includes semiconductor processing technology, device physics, and statistics
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter, dependable, and highly motivated
- Ability to work and communicate with equipment engineering to improve the area
- Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in semiconductor processing
- Technical proficiency in semiconductor processing technologies, device physics, and statistics
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities
