About the role

Tower Semiconductor is seeking a Process Engineer within the Photo department to support sustaining operations, process improvements, process transfers, and development activities in our high-volume manufacturing facility located in San Antonio, TX. Our San Antonio fab is a dynamic and growing manufacturing site dedicated to delivering specialty electronic devices for a diverse range of applications, distinguished by exceptional quality, competitive cost structures, and superior cycle times.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with strong technical and analytical capabilities, coupled with a practical, hands-on approach to solving complex engineering challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of assigned processes and establish direction for improvements, sustaining, and overall operations
  • Work closely with process and integration engineers to improve process metrics (SPC, yield, parametrics, defects) and achieve first-pass success of technology transfers
  • Take ownership of selection and qualification of semiconductor processing tools
  • Monitor fab metrics with statistical process control (SPC)
  • Provide root cause investigation of discrepant material and implement yield and defect improvement projects
  • Write operating specifications and provide technical training to wafer fab personnel
  • Work with equipment engineering to improve uptime and tool utilization
  • Troubleshoot process and tool excursions
  • Identify cost savings opportunities and drive projects to reduce overall costs
  • Implement advanced process control to improve Cpk at critical levels
  • Ensure matching of newly installed equipment to support production ramp
  • Develop new semiconductor manufacturing processes using design of experiments (DOE)

Requirements

  • Recent Ph.D. graduate, preferably in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Materials Science preferred
  • MS Degree with minimum 5 years of hands-on semiconductor experience
  • Highly desirable coursework includes semiconductor processing technology, device physics, and statistics
