About the role
Delek US Holdings is a boutique-sized diversified downstream energy company with refining and logistics assets. Our refineries in Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana have a combined crude capacity of 302,000 barrels per day. Our logistics business includes 720 miles of crude and product pipelines, a 600-mile crude oil gathering system, and storage tanks and terminals.
The Process Engineer uses understanding of process fundamentals, process equipment, refinery practices, and specific technologies to ensure safe, environmentally friendly, reliable, and optimal refinery operation. This role coordinates and influences the achievement of these objectives through data-driven critical thinking.
Responsibilities
- Trains, mentors, and coaches less experienced process engineers (e.g., troubleshooting and optimization assistance for operations, process operations analysis, economic evaluation).
- Provides troubleshooting and optimization assistance for operations on complex units.
- Conducts daily performance monitoring including mass balance, energy consumption, yields, and “process unit health” performance indicators.
- Generates, analyzes, interprets, and disseminates performance indicators and unit operations data for assigned units.
- Evaluates catalyst usage and performance.
- Analyzes and identifies short- and long-term process changes to improve unit(s) profitability and optimize efficiency.
- Conducts process operations analysis and economic evaluation using simulation software.
- Evaluates equipment design and process development to balance process requirements, economics, operator effectiveness, and environment/safety objectives.
- Presents basic sections of operator process training classes, approves process portions in Management of Change (MOC) development, and performs process engineering duties in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) on simple units.
- Develops and maintains critical cross-functional relationships (e.g., refinery economics, operations, lab, maintenance) to optimize unit performance to constraints.
- Employs industry best practices and standards to compare actual operation to the intended process design, identifying advantages and disadvantages.
Requirements
- 4-year Bachelor’s Degree (Required) in a relevant field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Six (6) or more years of Process Engineering experience in the refining industry (Required).
- Physical ability to work on and around industrial equipment, including climbing stairs, ladders, and working in confined spaces.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, boots, hearing protection, respirator).
