About the role

In Amazon Air, process-driven techniques help us deliver smiles to both our internal and external customers daily. The Amazon Air (AIR) Process Engineer (PE) team drives process stabilization, standardization, and continuous improvement. As a Process Engineer, you will manage the relationship between cost, speed, and service by developing innovative ideas that create value for our customers. You will identify and solve process defects, deep dive into data, apply engineering principles to develop processes and planning tools, and use project management skills to implement change. This role acts locally but builds globally, standardizing AIR’s operations.

This position is based in Lakeland, FL and requires an employee’s full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute job duties, ensuring the safety and security of Amazon Air personnel, third-party contractors, airport personnel, cargo, and equipment. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to mandatory pre-employment and, where permitted, post-hire drug testing.

Individuals hired into this position will have unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA). Eligibility requires passing a security screening as mandated by the FAA, DHS, and TSA (as applicable). You must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges.

Responsibilities

  • Develop standard work, benchmarking, and auditing capability.
  • Collect, consolidate, and report on performance to Operations Integrations teams.
  • Program Manage large-scale projects and work with Amazon Customer Excellence System (ACES) and Process Engineering teams to manage projects, timelines, and successful implementation of change.
  • Work directly with internal customers/partners to identify required network capacity and constraints.
  • Collect and interpret operating cost data.
  • Assist in reviewing proposals for new equipment and services.
  • Pull, analyze, and report data from numerous databases (using Excel, Access, SQL, and/or other data management systems).
  • Participate in long-term planning and modeling sessions.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2+ years of experience directly managing and responsible for multiple large projects.
  • 4+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
  • Experience working a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Experience in Lean Management, Six Sigma, and other operations engineering tools.
  • Experience in Logistics, Distribution, or Fulfillment processes.
  • Experience creating process improvements with automation and analysis, or building and managing financial models for business forecasting and problem-solving.
  • Experience and strong technical background in relevant fields of automated or non-automated material handling equipment.
  • Experience working under pressure in a cross-functional organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or equivalent STEM field.
  • Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems, and high-speed manufacturing.
  • Experience with financial and statistical modeling.
  • Experience in layout design.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is:

  • USA, CA, San Bernardino: $119,600.00 - $161,700.00 USD annually
  • USA, FL, Lakeland: $119,600.00 - $161,700.00 USD annually
  • USA, IL, Rockford: $119,600.00 - $161,700.00 USD annually
  • USA, KY, Erlanger: $119,600.00 - $161,700.00 USD annually
  • USA, MD, Baltimore: $119,600.00 - $161,700.00 USD annually
  • USA, OH, Wilmington: $119,600.00 - $161,700.00 USD annually
  • USA, TN, Nashville: $107,600.00 - $145,600.00 USD annually
  • USA, TX, Fort Worth: $119,600.00 - $161,700.00 USD annually
  • USA, WA, Bellevue: $119,600.00 - $161,700.00 USD annually

Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
