About the role

Join the CDAO AI/ML Data Platforms Team at JPMorganChase as a Senior Principal Software Engineer. Provide deep engineering expertise and work across agile teams to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Leverage your expertise to challenge the status quo, innovate for business impact, lead strategic development, and remain at the forefront of industry trends and technological advances.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and lead on the strategy and development of multiple products, applications, and technologies across a portfolio.
  • Create novel code solutions and drive the development of new production code capabilities across teams and functions.
  • Set strategy and operating standards for agentic AI-enabled engineering across a portfolio using enterprise-authorized tools to drive measurable improvements in delivery speed, reliability, and code quality (e.g., AI-orchestrated SDLC/TLM automation, release readiness gating, incident triage/root-cause acceleration, and large-scale refactoring/test modernization). Define guardrails for validation, security, resiliency, and reuse across teams and functions.
  • Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve value realized by automation at scale.
  • Translate highly complex technical issues, trends, and approaches to leadership to drive innovation and enable strategic, well-informed decisions about technology advancements.
  • Drive adoption and implementation of technical methods in specialized fields aligned with the latest product development methodologies.
  • Create durable, reusable software frameworks leveraged across teams and functions.
  • Influence across business, product, and technology teams while managing senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Serve as the function's go-to subject matter expert.
  • Build and operate 24x7, tier-1 online services.
  • Champion the firm's culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 7+ years of applied experience.
  • Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Rust, Java, Go, C++.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and scaling agentic AI-enabled development patterns using enterprise-authorized tools, including establishing governance for human-in-the-loop validation, traceability/auditability, and secure handling of sensitive inputs/outputs.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use and control expectations at scale, including security/resiliency implications, data sensitivity, and risk-based governance. Ability to advise senior leaders on safe adoption, reuse, and measurable outcomes.
  • Proven track record building and operating 24x7, tier-1 online services.
  • Experience influencing across functions and teams to deliver value at scale.
  • Expertise in applying new methods to solve complex technology problems across various technical disciplines.
  • Extensive practical cloud-native experience.
  • Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with open-source projects in the OLAP/data stack: Apache DataFusion, DuckDB, Apache Arrow Flight SQL.
