Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer

This position will be located in Melbourne, FL. The selected candidate will contribute in the research, design, analysis, manufacture, and testing associated with aircraft Support Equipment.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical design of test, measurement, and handling equipment used on military aircraft.
• Gather data, requirement development, interfacing with suppliers, and performing basic stress and tolerance analysis.
• Act as manufacturing liaison during build process of your project to ensure overall quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved.
• Develop test plans and perform environmental testing of Support Equipment.
• Testing and integration of manufactured Support Equipment on aircraft.
• Occasionally travel to various site locations to demonstrate the function of the designed Support Equipment (10% travel).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 8 years of relevant engineering experience OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline AND 6 years of engineering experience.
• Experience using CAD software in generating detailed engineering drawings used for manufacturing of mechanical and/or electrical assemblies.
• Basic knowledge of design and analysis tools for mechanical design as well as basic drafting skills, including a working knowledge of solid modeling techniques (NX, Pro Engineer, or Catia).
• Active US Government Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
• Thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Special Access Program (SAP) access.
• Experience using FEA software for stress analysis of mechanical and/or electrical assemblies, including static and dynamic analysis to MIL-STD-810 requirements.
• FAA A&P Certificate or equivalent aircraft maintenance background.
• Experience developing manufacturing drawings to GD&T standards.

Pay

Primary salary range: $111,700.00 - $167,500.00. The above range represents a general guideline; base salary offers consider the scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
