Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector invites you to bring your pioneering spirit to our collaborative teams in Promontory, UT. As a Sr. Principal Engineer Energetics Manufacturing, you will be responsible for the concept, design, fabrication drawings, inspection requirements, procurement requirements, verification requirements, and fabrication support for tooling and equipment for Aerospace applications.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with review team to assure customer satisfaction with design.
  • Manage projects and coordinate all procurements and fabrication to meet program cost and schedule requirements.
  • Inspect fabricated support hardware to assure compliance to design.
  • Work alongside the manufacturing team to ensure overall program quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved.
  • Work with internal customers to concept needed support equipment for new and existing programs.
  • Develop tooling concepts, create/review, and improve manufacturing processes to meet customer requirements.
  • Work closely with tool designers to create final drawings.
  • Perform stress analysis to assure mechanical soundness per Northrop Grumman requirements.
  • Understand and monitor cost and schedule.
  • Review engineering drawings and designs for manufacturability.
  • Support vendors as needed during fabrication.
  • Inspect tool configuration for drawing compliance, including form, fit, and function.
  • Support continuous improvement.
  • Support Operations and Process Engineering in the use of all tooling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) plus 8 years of technical/engineering experience – OR – Master’s of Science Degree in a STEM discipline plus 6 years of technical/engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate vendor and equipment capability, including production of tooling and unique aerospace part production.
  • Experience with closed form and finite element (FE) analysis practices; preference for ANSYS software systems.
  • Solid modeling experience; preference for Siemens NX.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Passion for building and manufacturing support hardware.
  • Technical experience in engineering, design, and fabrication of special tooling and related equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills in managing time, projects, and resources.
  • Leadership ability.
  • Technical attention to detail.

Pay

Primary level salary range: $137,000.00 - $168,000.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
