Principal / Sr. Principal Engineer Energetics Manufacturing

About the role

The Principal/Sr. Principal Facilities Engineer, Level 3 or Level 4 position in Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is based in Magna, UT. This position requires a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off and does not accommodate telecommuting.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects and coordinate all procurements and installations to meet program cost and schedule requirements for capital upgrades.
• Provide engineering design as needed to support the Facilities Engineering Department, including designing mechanical piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), preparing design calculations and specifications, developing schedules, and reviewing engineering drawings and designs.
• Resolve equipment problems in the field through technical assistance with Maintenance Craftsmen.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for project design and implementation.
• Review engineering drawings and designs for manufacturability and functionality.

Requirements

• For Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 year of professional experience.
• For Level 4: Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 8 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 6 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 4 years of professional experience.

Qualifications

• Desire to build and manufacture support hardware.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills in managing time, projects, and resources.
• Leadership ability.
• Technical attention to detail.

Skills

• Industrial process equipment/facilities design: Chemical processing preferred.
• AutoCAD drafting ability.
• Solid modeling experience (a plus).
