About the role

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to support the Sentinel program in Roy, UT. The Sentinel Infrastructure Analysis Team oversees the design and analysis of facilities and related subsystems for the future upgrade to the Minuteman III missile, as well as unique flight test facilities. This role focuses on electrical analysis, tackling complex challenges to advance the Sentinel Program.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical analysis as part of the Sentinel Infrastructure Analysis Team.
  • Apply technical expertise in areas such as electrical architecture, power systems, cable design, circuit design, or power distribution.
  • Ensure compliance with industry and military codes and standards (e.g., mil-specs, IEEE, NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEC, UFC).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university with 8 years of experience, or 6 years with a Master’s degree, or 4 years with a PhD.
  • U.S. citizenship with an active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Electrical engineering experience in at least two of the following: electrical architecture, power systems, cable design, circuit design, interface definition (internal/external), or power distribution.
  • Knowledge of industry/military codes and standards (e.g., mil-specs, IEEE, NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEC, UFC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Siemens Teamcenter PLM or equivalent.
  • Design, troubleshooting (RCA), or implementation of ground power systems, facility power systems, or launch power systems.
  • Experience with high-power and/or high-frequency systems, including power electronics.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC design, shielding techniques, and thermal management for electronic systems.
  • Authorship and release of engineering documentation (e.g., technical drawings, specifications, test procedures).
  • Experience designing cables to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, milestone reviews, and government contracting.
  • Experience maintaining and reporting program activity status.

Pay

Primary salary range: $122,800 – $203,600. Base salary is determined by experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Vice President or Director positions may qualify for Long Term Incentives.

Schedule

Standard work schedule: 9/80 (nine-hour days Monday through Thursday, with every other Friday off).
