Sr. Power BI Developer

Location: Houston, TX (onsite) – 1-year contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Power BI Developer with 12–15 years of overall IT experience and deep expertise in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Visualization, and Microsoft Power Platform technologies. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level Power BI solutions that deliver actionable insights to business stakeholders and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex Power BI reports and dashboards using DAX, Power Query, and other advanced Power BI features.
• Build efficient data models in Power BI Desktop, create calculated columns and measures with advanced DAX functions, and optimize performance.
• Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from SQL Server, Excel, SharePoint, REST APIs, Azure, and other enterprise databases.
• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and refine BI solution requirements.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of data presented in Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Optimize Power BI dashboards for performance and usability.
• Provide guidance and support to team members on Power BI best practices.
• Stay current with the latest trends and advancements in Power BI and data visualization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 12–15 years of overall IT experience with a minimum of 10+ years of hands-on Power BI experience.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, SQL, and data warehousing principles.
• Proficiency in DAX and Power Query.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and other database technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Familiarity with other BI tools such as Cognos.
• Knowledge of Azure data and analytics services.
