Sr. Phlebotomy Technician

Responsibilities

• Prepares staff schedule to provide adequate coverage and updates changes daily
• Troubleshoots and resolves issues with technicians, clinic staff etc. as needed in conjunction with the Supervisor
• Maintains drawing and POC testing carts/trays with necessary supplies
• Maintains all necessary supplies and places orders in a timely fashion
• Displays need for cost-effectiveness in the use of supplies and materials
• Sorts timed specimen requisitions and distribute them according to unit assignments as necessary
• Obtain specimens, requisitions, draw blood or perform POC tests as needed
• Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.)
• Communicates with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.)
• Adheres to the standards identified in the clinic’s Organizational Competencies

Qualifications

• Floater - Traveling is required for this position
• Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, if applicable
• 1 year phlebotomy experience required, 1 year pediatrics experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric and capillary collections
• Minimum 1 year in a Patient Service Center environment preferred
• Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred
• Keyboard/data entry experience
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime

• Lift light to moderately heavy objects
• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
• Requires long hours of eye and hand coordination
• Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand frequently to constantly throughout the day
