Senior Payroll Tax Specialist

Summary: The Ash Group is hiring a Sr Payroll Tax Specialist for a pioneering technology company in Dayton, OH. This is a 5-month contract position offering a pay rate up to $47 per hour.

• Compensation: Up to $47/hr W2 based on location
• Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, and direct primary care benefits. After six months, a 4% matched 401(k) plan with immediate 100% vesting.

Key Responsibilities

• Process payroll and tax compliance for multiple states and countries
• Oversee tax filings, ensuring timely submission of federal, state, and local returns
• Reconcile payroll general ledger and tax liability accounts monthly, quarterly, and annually
• Resolve agency notices and penalties promptly
• Research tax legislation changes and implement updates to payroll systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate processing
• Maintain audit documentation to support internal and external audits

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, or Associate’s with 5+ years payroll tax experience
• CPP or FPC certification preferred
• Proficiency with ADP, Smart Compliance, WF N, and Workday payroll systems
• Deep knowledge of multi-state and international payroll tax compliance and reconciliation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Able to resolve complex tax issues and agency notices
• Experience updating payroll software and documenting SOPs
