Sr. Payroll Specialist

About the role

The Sr. Payroll Specialist manages the end-to-end bi-weekly payroll cycle for all employees, performing comprehensive timesheet audits, coordinating leave payouts, and serving as the primary payroll system administrator and technical liaison for external vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the bi-weekly payroll cycle, verifying information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform timesheet audits, identify and resolve timekeeping errors.
  • Process and manage complex earnings, deductions, and wage attachments.
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll by balancing totals and reconciling reports.
  • Cook up and validate leave payout (LPO) processes and calculate retroactive payroll payments.
  • Coordinate with external vendors like UKG/Sability for system updates and major transitions.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and supervisors, addressing complex issues.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state payroll laws, ensuring accurate reporting and adherence to internal policies.
  • Generate detailed payroll reports for management review.
  • Verify new hires and ensure payroll integration consistency.
  • Handle other payroll-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including complex or multi-state payroll processing.
  • Experience with wage attachments and advanced payroll calculations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite (advanced Excel and Sheets skills).
  • Extensive experience with ERP software, particularly UKG payroll system administration and vendor management.
  • Direct experience in a Life Plan Community, Senior Living, or Healthcare environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Range: $60,000 - $70,000/year (based on relevant experience)
