Sr. Palo Alto Engineer | Remote, USA

The position is fully remote and can be located anywhere in the continental U.S. Optiv is seeking a Senior Palo Alto Engineer to join the Advanced Fusion Center (AFC) team within the Security Operations Center. The AFC line of business focuses on providing security operations expertise to a growing client base. Our team comprises highly technical individuals capable of delivering managed services to various industries.

About the Role

The Senior Palo Alto Engineer will follow AFC processes and procedures, manage and maintain security systems in both internal and client environments. They will work closely with management, solution architects, and other internal teams and clients to deliver high-profile, critical services. They will serve as a primary responder for client systems, handling configuration issues and leading user acceptance testing.

Responsibilities

• Solo delivery or acting as "point" for complex projects/requests
• Acting as the technical escalation point for junior engineers
• Leading capacity planning and hardware specification recommendations
• Leading deployment and management activities, including connector configuration, custom rule development, workflow configuration, and third-party system integration
• Leading user acceptance testing and bug-related engineering efforts
• Providing knowledge transfer and post-production support as needed
• Effective team communication
• Maintaining professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, and professional associations
• Obtaining and maintaining top-tier vendor certifications and accreditations
• Completing administrative tasks like time and expense entry, status reporting, and project completion reporting
• Contributing to Optiv communities for focused solutions
• Developing and maintaining runbooks and procedural documentation

Requirements

• A current PCNSE certification is required
• Hands-on experience implementing Palo Alto, including Prisma Access, Prisma Cloud, and optionally Prisma Cortex
• Minimum four (4) years of hands-on experience with Palo Alto
• Minimum six (6) years of professional Information Security experience in a consulting, vendor, or enterprise-level role
• Experience in a customer-facing/consulting capacity
• Demonstrated ability to lead junior colleagues

Qualifications

• Minimum four (4) years of hands-on experience with Palo Alto
• Minimum six (6) years of professional Information Security experience in a consulting, vendor, or enterprise-level role
• InfoSec/Cyber implementation/practical experience
• Fully qualified/certified on 1 or more technologies
• Experience in a customer-facing/consulting capacity
• Demonstrated ability to lead junior colleagues

Skills

• Palo Alto Network certifications (PCNSE preferred)
• Prisma Access, Prisma Cloud, and/or Prisma Cortex experience
• Cloud provider experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
