IPG Photonics has an opening for an experienced Senior Opto Mechanical Engineer to be part of a small, cohesive group developing robust, compact laser modules and conversion heads. The position offers the opportunity to work in small, multi-disciplinary teams, close to the technology, and have the support of a global, growing company. Responsibilities will include developing precision opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical components used in laser systems. This is a challenging, hands-on role utilizing a broad range of skills with complete product development exposure. RESPONSIBILITIES:Design and development of optical mounts/components and laser head packagesDesign from concept to final product including Layouts, Details, BOMs, Procedures and Test Plans.Build and qualify PrototypesDesign tooling to perform optical alignmentsPerform thermal FEACreate and execute tests and tooling for design verification/validationReview and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designsCreate and Release Production Support DocumentationWork closely with internal and external vendorsProject Status ReportingMay lead a team REQUIREMENTS:Minimum BSME required5+ years experience in developing opto-mech devices and systems, or other related precision mechanical fieldSolidWorks proficiencyKnowledge of various optic mounting techniquesFunctional knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processesEfficient design and development organizational skillsClear Written and Verbal Communication Location(s)50 Old Webster Road, Oxford, Massachusetts 01540, United StatesEmployment TypeExemptWage InformationMA: $93,039 - $123,277US Benefits InformationPay Range:The pay range on this posting applies to the role in the primary location specified.
