Sr. Optical Network Development Engineer, Tools and Automation, Network Product Development

About the role

The Core Networking team is looking for a Optical Network Development Engineer to join our Network Product Development (NPD) team. You will design, implement and support scalable testing infrastructure solutions to support and facilitate optics interconnect development and product deployment.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy and scale the Amazon networks that support AWS, customers, and other business units, across multiple global data centers.
• Design, implement and support scalable testing infrastructure solutions to support and facilitate optics interconnect development and product deployment.
• Lead collaborative efforts with internal stakeholders and supplier partners to establish robust testing frameworks and quality assurance procedures for optical modules.
• Engage stakeholders to identify areas of improvements during rack deployment or bring-up.
• Work with network operations team to improve link error handling efficiency.

Requirements

• 1+ years of professional work experience, or experience in SQL or other relational databases.
• Bachelor’s Degree in or foreign equivalent in Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering or a related field or equivalent work experience.
• Basic understanding of optical transceivers and data center networks.
• 2+ years of experience in scripting and test automation using python.
• 2+ years of experience in hardware and systems design, development, and troubleshooting.
• 1+ year of experience in the application of network design, including knowledge of major protocols, topology design, network hardware, device configuration and traffic engineering.
• 1+ year of experience in database and AWS services.
• 1+ year of experience working with ODMs and component suppliers in delivering optical solutions.

Qualifications

• Master/PhD or foreign equivalent in Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering or a related field.
• Masters/PhD preferred but not required.
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this roles.
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role.

Skills

• Excellent business and communication skills to be able to work with business owners and tech leaders to gather infrastructure requirements, design software infrastructure, build up pipelines and test plan to meet business needs.
• Stays abreast of emerging technologies, investigating and implementing where appropriate.

Pay

$183,000.00 - $247,600.00 USD annually
