About the role

This position serves as the primary research coordinator of NCI sponsored and selected industry clinical trials at GCC-CTO.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Accrual
    • Assessment of potential subjects for eligibility, consenting patients, review consent for completion and provide copy to patient and pharmacy (if appropriate).
    • Assure protocol requires eligibility procedures are scheduled and results obtained and documented within protocol timelines.
    • Assure protocol compliance - assure scheduling of Protocol required visits and procedures, educate subject, and appropriate family and staff regarding protocol treatments, requirements and responsibilities.
    • Study oversight - collect, record and maintain data for actively enrolled and /or active follow-up patients, maintain, review, complete and submit all patient data within specified time for each protocol.
    • Collect diagnostic material and submit according to specifications of protocol. Document and notify all appropriate people, groups, etc. of any adverse drug reactions, toxicities or deaths of patients in research protocols
  • Primary Coordinator
    • Serve as the primary coordinator for NCI sponsored protocols and select industry studies by managing all aspects of the protocols (subject recruitment & retention; scheduling; subject visits; source note & case report form documentation; specimen collection and shipping; and remote data entry).
    • Pre and Post Audit - service in management and liaison for research studies audit related activities. Pre-audit, audit and post audit submission of all required correspondences.
    • Assist with maintaining regulatory binders and documents (i.e. IND's, etc.) for all protocols in and/or hospital guidelines.
  • Recruitment
    • Assisting in recruitment, training and orientation of all new research nurses and staff.
    • Assisting with the management of all aspects of research activities of the GCC-CTO division.
    • Covers coordination of the work and responsibilities of assigned research team activities and data entry specialists as it relates to assigned protocols.
    • Works with PIs and Sub-ls to implement processes and procedures to improve compliance, Ensure database(s) maintenance which includes participant and prospect information.
    • Develop report to keep up with patient follow up visits. Maintain sufficient inventory of material, supplies and equipment for the assigned research team.
    • Aids managers in study start-up activities and assigning new studies to maintain workload balance to all members of assigned team.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia with a minimum of four years of clinical experience in a specialized area; Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification.
  • OR Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia with a minimum of seven years of clinical experience in a specialized area; Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clinical oncology research experience is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Must be experienced in performing blood draws, preparing specimens; familiar with medical terminology.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • Able to set priorities; flexible and well-organized.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Band: B14

Salary: $75,300/annually - $96,000/annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
