Sr. Medical Lab Technologist

About the role
To apply and contribute to the St. Joseph’s Health mission and values by performing a variety of clinical laboratory procedures and related duties in one or more laboratory sections following established procedures and protocols, which are used by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Under the supervision of the laboratory supervisor or the Laboratory Manager, the Medical Technologist (MT) is a clinical laboratory practitioner who performs clinical laboratory procedures and examinations pursuant to established and approved protocols of the New York Department of Health in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, cytology, histology, and/or transfusion services. May have frequent contact with laboratory personnel, hospital employees, physicians, pathologists, nursing personnel, visitors, vendors, and regulatory or accrediting agencies.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of clinical laboratory procedures in one or more laboratory sections
- Conduct examinations following established protocols for hematology, chemistry, microbiology, cytology, histology, and/or transfusion services
- Adhere to New York Department of Health approved protocols
- All other duties, as assigned
Requirements
- B.S. Degree in Medical Technology or related field
- Current license from New York State Department of Education as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT)
- One year of experience preferred
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability and familiarity with related technology
Pay
Pay Range: $34.60–$51.10 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
