About the Role
This position is for a licensed engineer responsible for implementing engineering projects, including construction documents, coordination with other disciplines, permitting, bidding, and construction administration. The role ensures high-quality deliverables such as construction documents, specifications, and RFI responses while serving as the main point of contact for clients, contractors, and consultants.
Responsibilities
- Implement engineering projects in accordance with client requirements and code.
- Ensure high-quality construction documents, specifications, and RFI responses.
- Research, develop, and stay updated with the latest designs in coordination with vendors, senior engineers, and online resources.
- Apply excellent knowledge of discipline-specific and building codes.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Lead and educate clients on design and project requirements.
- Meet with the Project Architect and Project Manager to discuss design scope, schedule, budget, phasing, site issues, and design review.
- Estimate discipline man-hours required to complete project design requirements.
- Serve as the main point of contact for projects with clients, contractors, and consultants, requiring minimal input from the Project Manager or Principal.
- Ensure coordination with architectural and engineering disciplines.
- Oversee the design and production of engineering construction documents and specifications.
- Maintain company and client standards.
- Anticipate and resolve project issues as they arise.
- Provide ongoing quality control throughout the project.
- Obtain and perform peer reviews of documents.
- Set up project budgets and complete designated scope within allotted time.
- Communicate owner revisions and RFIs.
- Represent the client’s interests at public hearings and meetings, as needed.
- Provide customer service to maintain client relationships.
- Mentor and train engineering designers to produce high-quality construction documents within budget.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 10-15 years of work experience as a licensed engineer.
- Must be the Engineer of Record in several states.
