This job opportunity is available at any location in the United States. Ideally, selected candidates will be near a Jacobs U.S. based office, but we intend to hire the best candidates. What you'll do

  • Layout and design of HVAC systems for our industrial clients
  • Lead the development of dust collection systems
  • Lead conversations related to Dust Hazard Analysis (DHAs) and combustible dust hazards
  • Guide the project team and client with providing systems that properly capture dust in a safe manner in accordance with applicable codes and good engineering practice
  • Development of the design criteria for the HVAC systems, including general comfort heating and cooling, those with accurate temperature or humidity control, unique pressurization requirements, and/or cleanliness requirements for clean room applications
  • Development of conceptual design and preliminary design documents, which would include calculations related to sizing and selecting these systems, the development of Utility System P&IDs, and general arrangements
  • Layout of Ductwork systems based on an Air Flow and Instrumentation Diagram (AF&ID)
  • Development of final design documents including specification, sequences of operation, piping layout, and final construction documents associated with these systems, including chilled water, cooling water, etc.
  • Mentoring of less experienced staff
  • Lead our Building Mechanical team members on projects, perform field investigations, interface with clients & vendors, size and select equipment, and prepare construction design packages
  • Be accountable for the schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks as you gain familiarity with the client's expectations, scope, budget, and schedule
  • Work with a multi-discipline, highly interactive team to establish an HVAC design basis, develop specifications, perform calculations, and develop detail design packages

Required qualifications

  • At least fifteen (15) years' experience in the design of HVAC systems with several projects involving dust collection systems
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License
  • Thorough knowledge of codes and standards related to the design of HVAC systems
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Adaptability to work within a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines
  • Ability to lead a building mechanical team on a project and to collaborate with other discipline team members remotely

Preferred qualifications

  • Software experience in Revit, AutoCAD, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace 700, and Trane Trace 3D
  • Experience in the design of plumbing/utility systems

Pay and benefits

The base salary range for this position is $123,600.00 to $170,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
