Sr Mechanical HVAC Engineer-Dust Control Specialist

- Layout and design of HVAC systems for our industrial clients.
- Lead the development of dust collection systems.
- Lead conversations related to Dust Hazard Analysis (DHAs) and combustible dust hazards.
- Guide the project team and client with providing systems that properly capture dust in a safe manner in accordance with applicable codes and good engineering practice.
- Development of the design criteria for the HVAC systems. These HVAC systems would include general comfort heating and cooling, those with accurate temperature or humidity control, unique pressurization requirements, and/or cleanliness requirements for clean room applications.
- Development of conceptual design and preliminary design documents, which would include calculations related to sizing and selecting these systems, the development of Utility System P&IDs, and general arrangements.
- Layout of Ductwork systems based on an Air Flow and Instrumentation Diagram (AF&ID).
- Development of final design documents including specification, sequences of operation, piping layout, and final construction documents associated with these systems. These systems would include chilled water, cooling water, etc.
- Mentoring of less experienced staff.
Responsibilities
You will lead our Building Mechanical team members on projects, perform field investigations, interface with clients & vendors, size and select equipment, and prepare construction design packages. You’ll be accountable for the schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. You’ll work with a multi-discipline, highly interactive team to establish an HVAC design basis, develop specifications, perform calculations, and develop detail design packages.
Requirements
- At least fifteen (15) years’ experience in the design of HVAC systems with several projects involving dust collection systems.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License.
- Thorough knowledge of codes and standards related to the design of HVAC systems.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Adaptability to work within a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
- Ability to lead a building mechanical team on a project and to collaborate with other discipline team members remotely.
Qualifications
- Software experience in Revit, AutoCAD, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace 700, and Trane Trace 3D.
- Experience in the design of plumbing/utility systems.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
