Sr Mechanical HVAC Engineer (Data Centers)
About the role
Join Jacobs' Advanced Manufacturing Group and deliver innovative HVAC design solutions for Data Center clients. You will lead the Building Mechanical team on projects, perform field investigations, interface with clients and vendors, size and select equipment, and prepare construction design packages. Accountable for the schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, you will work with a multi-discipline team to establish process design basis, develop optimized processes, create calculations, and generate process drawings.
Responsibilities
- Layout and design of HVAC systems for electric vehicles, data centers, and heavy industrial facilities.
- Development of design criteria for HVAC systems, including general comfort heating and cooling, systems with accurate temperature or humidity control, unique pressurization requirements, and clean room applications.
- Development of conceptual and preliminary design documents, including calculations for sizing and selecting systems, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and general arrangements.
- Layout of ductwork systems based on P&IDs.
- Development of final design documents, including specifications, sequences of operation, piping layout, and final construction documents for systems such as chilled water and cooling water.
- Mentoring of less experienced staff.
Requirements
- At least 8 years’ experience in the design of HVAC systems.
- Thorough knowledge of codes and standards related to HVAC system design.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Adaptability to work within a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
- Ability to lead a building mechanical team on a project and collaborate with other discipline team members remotely.
Skills
- Software experience in Revit, AutoCAD, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace 700, and Trane Trace 3D (preferred).
- Experience in the design of plumbing/utility systems (preferred).

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $120,400.00 to $158,025.00. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Schedule
Hybrid working policy allowing employees to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
