About the role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in delivering turnkey, customized automation solutions for food processing and packaging environments. Projects involve tight schedules and budgets, requiring close coordination across multiple departments. The role demands creativity, attention to detail, and strong communication to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, Fabrication, and Assembly teams, often addressing unexpected technical challenges and scope changes with flexibility and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Mechanical Engineering team meetings to support and improve departmental processes.
• Collaborate with the Mechanical Engineering Manager and other Senior Mechanical Engineers as needed.
• Support system engineering development, including approval drawings and equipment interfaces.
• Mentor Mechanical Engineers (I and II) to foster consistent designs and good manufacturing practices.
• Coach, review, and delegate work within large projects.
• Research, plan, develop, and design fabricated and purchased components (e.g., motors, gearboxes, bearings, structural materials).
• Create production drawings, including detail, assembly, weldment, installation, and modification drawings.
• Release engineering information to Manufacturing via the ERP system.
• Support Fabrication and Assembly departments in troubleshooting.
• Travel to job sites to gather information for project execution.
• Provide customer support via phone, email, or web to troubleshoot designs and equipment.
• Support the Innovation Center Team.

• Work independently with minimal oversight from management.
• Mentor Mechanical Engineers (I and II).
• Release high-quality designs and drawings to Manufacturing and Assembly.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives while managing concurrent projects.
• Foster a positive, team-based culture within the department.

Requirements

• Excellent SolidWorks and 2D CAD skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Schedule

Full-time, in-office position with occasional remote work.
