About the role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer on BD’s Medication Management Solutions (MMS) team, you will apply your mechanical-engineering expertise to insource new medical-device products. You will translate requirements into hardware specifications, solve technical problems, and develop test strategies that demonstrate designs meet specifications.
Responsibilities
- Translate product requirements into hardware specifications.
- Solve technical problems independently.
- Develop test strategies to demonstrate designs meet requirements and specifications.
- Analyze and interpret test results using standard statistical tools and techniques.
- Create comprehensive test reports and presentations.
- Present and communicate analysis to project teams and management, driving decisions and conclusions.
- Assist project management in identifying and managing technical risk.
- Contribute to schedule development and milestone achievement predictability.
- Apply Design for Six Sigma and problem-solving methodologies during product development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).
- At least 5 years of related experience.
- Medical-device experience (preferred).
- Experience with electro-mechanical mechanisms, motor control, sensors, injection-molded and sheet-metal part design.
- Proficiency with mechanical CAD tools (preferably SolidWorks 2019), FEA, sheet-metal design and fabrication, plastic-injection-molded part design, tooling and qualification, tolerance analysis, and GD&T.
