Responsibilities
- Perform engineering analysis to support diagnostic development, system performance evaluation, operational activities and ensure system safety
- Collect, process, and interpret technical data to identify trends, anomalies, and performance improvements
- Use CAD software to review, and develop experimental platforms
- Conduct laboratory and field-testing using equipment such as oscilloscopes and other diagnostic tools
- Support validation and verification activities through structured test planning and documentation
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and test plans to provide clear direction for technicians and operators
- Develop technical reports summarizing findings, recommendations, and conclusions
- Work with scientific community experts to organize and plan experimental platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including scientists, engineering, and operations
- Participate as a SME in diagnostic and software development
- Participate in shift-based coverage (1–2 times per week), including evenings, as required
Requirements
- Minimum Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree Mechanical Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience required
- Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required; ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics required; strong written and verbal communication skills required; ability to obtain and hold a security clearance required; ability to work with radiation and certify as a NYS radiation worker required; experience with CAD software (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or similar) preferred; hands-on experience using oscilloscopes and electronic test equipment preferred; experience with data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Excel, or similar platforms) preferred; familiarity with engineering validation, testing, and documentation processes preferred; prior experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment preferred
