Sr. Mechanical Engineer
About the role
Supermicro is seeking an Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join their product management team, focusing on the mechanical design of in-house server chassis.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the product engineering and management team to oversee the chassis development cycle.
- Review the mechanical design and placements to ensure robustness and efficiency.
- Verify component 3D models and provide CAD drawings.
- Perform mechanical DFM reviews, considering material properties and characteristics.
- Resolve mechanical issues and provide support to cross-functional teams including engineering and manufacturing.
- Lead cross-functional teams for system layout placement, cable routing studies, and interference checks.
- Conduct system-level design risk assessments and failure mode analyses to ensure reliability and durability.
- Drive issue resolutions in electro-mechanical product development, selecting critical design elements and features optimally.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6+ years with a Master’s degree.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, other engineering majors with related design experience in computer, server system mechanical design review will also be considered.
- 8+ years of related experience in computer, server, or embedded products is highly desired.
- Familiarity with applicable manufacturing processes and tooling.
- Expertise with Engineering CAD software such as Creo and AutoCAD.
- Clear communication skills, both oral and written.
- Independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria.
- Product quality management or DFM/DFMEA/TA experience is highly preferred.
- Understanding of usability and DFM methodology is a plus.
- Advanced mechanical talent for interpreting mechanical drawing specifications and technical documents.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to work independently.
- Effective communication skills in both verbal and written, suitable for team environments.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $165,000. The final salary will depend on various factors including location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees in this role. Additional benefits include a comprehensive benefits package and potential participation in bonus and equity award programs.
