Sr. Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We’re partnering with a well-established Twin Cities manufacturer to find a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will play a key role in new product development, customer-driven design projects, production documentation, and continuous improvement of existing products. The company seeks someone with deep mechanical design expertise and experience with cable assemblies or wire harnesses to help expand these capabilities. This is a highly hands-on opportunity in a collaborative, small-team environment with meaningful ownership from concept through production.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and development of new products
• Design and develop custom cable assemblies and wire harnesses
• Create 3D mechanical designs, BOMs, assembly drawings, and production documentation
• Support products from initial concept through production
• Work directly with customers on design reviews, requirements, and technical issues
• Troubleshoot product installation and functional issues
• Support R&D and evaluate new technologies
• Maintain and improve existing product lines
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other internal teams
• Support applicable product certification and compliance requirements
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technicians
• Help expand the company's cable and wire harness product capabilities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 4+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience
• Strong SolidWorks and 3D mechanical design experience
• Experience with cable assemblies and/or wire harnesses
• Experience designing and developing electronic products for manufacturing
• Experience creating production documentation, including BOMs, drawings, and design releases
• Ability to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously
• Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Customer-facing technical experience
• Experience with other CAD platforms (considered with strong wire harness/cable experience)
