Core Responsibilities
- Create red-line markups of necessary corrections of mechanical 2D engineering drawings to ensure accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with industry prior to release to manufacturing.
- Strong working knowledge of machine design and international drafting standards including ISO, ANSI/ASME, and MIL specs.
- General knowledge of manufacturing processes including sheet metal, welding, forging, cast and machining processes.
- Practical application of GD&T is required.
- Strong working proficiency of national and international drafting standards as well local company standards for machine design and automation.
- Knowledge of mechanical concepts and design of functional machines & tooling based on specifications and cycle times.
- Able to perform and document basic calculations to verify design.
- Check drawings for fit, tolerancing and manufacturability of sheet metal, weldments, forging, casting, and machined parts and assemblies.
- Familiar with common design/documentation data management and change processes.
Requirements
- 10-15 years in industrial machine design and/or automation systems.
- Must be experienced in 2D AutoCAD with experience in Inventor 3D, Mechanical Desktop or SolidWorks.
- Strong written and communication skills.
- Formal training and/or certification in G.D.& T.
- Knowledge of drafting standard specifications, including MIL-STD-31000, MIL-STD-1472, ANSI Y14.5, ISO 128 (series), 1101, 5456 (series)...
- Create “best practices” document to assist designers and engineers to use as a guide to reduce common mistakes and re-work.
- Assist developers in creating new tools such as tools for capturing markups, tracking changes and checking assist tools.
