24-month contract with a potential for extension in Mounds View, MN. W2 contract, no PTO, no benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
  • Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, nonmetallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications.
  • Performs material analyses including failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications.
  • Reviews and approves subcontractor material processing procedures.
  • Conducts laboratory testing, materials characterization, and failure analysis to support product development and issue resolution.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive technical solutions and business objectives.
  • Reviews technical documentation and extracts critical information needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Material Science Engineering.
  • Lab work experience.
  • 2–10 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of materials and interactions with the body and environment, and ability to correlate material properties with product performance to predict various failure modes.
  • Knowledge of international and domestic regulations associated with Materials of Concern, Biocompatibility and Hazardous Substances (e.g., RoHS, EU MDR, California Prop. 65, ISO 10993).
  • Knowledge and experience of Materials Characterization Techniques.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of medical/clinical experience or exposure (preferred).
  • Bachelor of Science in Polymer Science and Engineering (preferred).
  • Master’s Degree in Materials Science & Engineering (preferred).

Pay

$45.00 – $55.00/hr
