Responsibilities
- Execute daily assignments to include but not limited to coordinating, supporting and performing all required plant reactive, preventative, proactive, project and setup support maintenance activities
- Utilizing the site’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), create the maintenance schedule, organize work orders and input maintenance parts inventory into the system
- Assess, troubleshoot and repair manufacturing issues, such as pneumatic devices and hydraulic systems; the rebuilding of gearboxes and drives (to include researching technical data, procuring parts, performing hand-on repairs and assisting in the coordination of contractor support as needed) in a timely fashion and with minimal supervision.
- Installation of equipment and needed piping
- Setting up of production lines, as well as the repair and troubleshooting of filling machines on production lines.
- Insures GMP, SSOP, OSHA guidelines and best practices are met prior to commissioning or restarting a piece of machinery, equipment or production line.
- Aid in training, coaching and mentoring fellow mechanics/technicians on proper maintenance practices to include but not limited to safe work practices, equipment theory of operation, proper troubleshooting techniques and best-practice repair procedures, etc.
- Conducts all the tasks in accordance with company policies and procedures, according to the laws and regulatory agencies: EPA, OSHA, Fire Department, FSMA, FDA, etc.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required (Associate’s Degree, Trade School Certificate and/or Military Technical Training, a plus)
- Must have 5 or more years of experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably under cGMP regulations
- Knowledge of and experience with food processing machinery including: Horizontal and Vertical Mixers, Urschell Dicers, Pack Line Depositing, Sealing and Lidding equipment, Circular and Vacuum pumps, Flow Valves/Fillers, Temperature/Level Sensors, Conveyors, Air Compressors, HVAC Units, Metal Detectors, Check Weigher
- Technical knowledge and ability in electrical troubleshooting, including replacement of three phase motors, & knowledge in PLC’s (Allen Bradley or Siemens)
- Certified in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electronics is desirable
- Related field training and continuing education is a plus
- Must be mechanically inclined and possess the ability to use all standard tools of the trade
- Be able to work in a cold environment for long periods of time.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50lbs.
- Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands or finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Competencies/ Skills
- Proficiency in computer (Microsoft Office, Excel) and basic math skills
- High Level in HVAC Skills including RTU’s &/or Condensers
- Mechanical Skills in Shear Mixer, Pumps &/or Welding tig-mig
- High Skill in Electrical circuits, including 480 AC/DC
- Team Oriented
- Excellent time management
- Working with minimal supervision.
- Proficient reading, writing and verbal communication skills.
