Job Purpose

We're building a brand-new state-of-the-art facility dedicated to creating power generation systems for data centers and microgrid applications. This new hub will be at the heart of BorgWarner's latest growth initiative, bringing together engineering, innovation, and technology in one dynamic space. To perform the manufacturing engineering function for special projects, production lines, cost reduction, and continuous improvement thru analytical approach. Develops and implements assembly line improvements & process controls, while following required safety and quality standards. Recommends and implements improvements to processes, methods and controls and product design. Ensure safe working practices are designed into all processes. Interacts with all levels of the organization as a team to produce and be accountable for desired results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, & document assembly line improvements
  • Industrial, large component assembly experience is a plus
  • Leads all changes building in long term safe working practices
  • Works with equipment vendors to develop & implement equipment improvements
  • Develop, implement and documents effective cost reductions on time
  • Specifies and executes machine purchases including verification of machine quality, performance and effect on process
  • Interacts effectively with all levels of the organization, frequently participating on or leading cross functional teams
  • Works as part of cross functional group for new program launches, cost improvement activities
  • Works within design procedures of ISO and Quality Systems
  • Participates in customer project reviews
  • Willingness to travel to equipment vendor location
  • Maintains project status reports for scheduling
  • Assures adherence to standard manufacturing practices
  • Understands and adheres to current quality and control policies
  • Understands and adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies
  • Communicates and enforces safe work procedures
  • Identifies and closes safety issues (suggestions, inspection and investigation findings) and their corrective actions
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Qualifications

  • BS degree in an Engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of experience required (non automotive)
  • Vision system programming experience required
  • DC electric torque systems experience required
  • Leak testing experience preferred
  • Understanding of lean principles with demonstrated application required
  • Understanding of the APQP process with demonstrated application required
  • Experience with high speed balancing of flexible rotors is a plus
  • Working knowledge of SAP system is a plus
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing large capital equipment projects within deadlines required
  • Demonstrated experience with new project costing, involvement in financial analysis required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required

Location

This position will be based at the BorgWarner Arden facility in Western North Carolina and will transition to a new facility in Hendersonville, NC.
