Sr Manufacturing Development Engineer

Location: Andover, MA (350 Lowell St, AN1 ESSEX BLDG) – Onsite role

Active and transferable U.S. government issued DoD Confidential security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Ability to obtain INTERIM clearance is also required.

About the role

Manufacturing Engineering at RTX provides technical expertise to numerous manufacturing and development programs involving electronic hardware for radar, missile, and combat systems. The Andover, MA facility spans over 1.7 million square feet of manufacturing and production space where products are assembled and tested.

This role involves collaborating with Operations and cross-functional teams—including Design, Test, Manufacturing, and Quality—to manage production issues in the Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) process. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication and organizational skills, and an innovative approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Translate complex engineering design requirements into detailed and accurate manufacturing process documents to ensure seamless production.
• Partner with program engineering teams to evaluate designs for manufacturability and assembly, driving optimization and efficiency.
• Actively participate in and lead process improvement projects to enhance production quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
• Perform thorough validation and verification of Manufacturing Process documents to guarantee accuracy and ensure product compliance to design.
• Engage with cross-functional teams—including engineering, quality, operations, and external suppliers—to resolve technical challenges and ensure alignment across the manufacturing lifecycle.
• Resolve production issues, initiate and contribute to process improvement and cost initiatives, and support cycle time reduction projects.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing process documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM).
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
• U.S. citizenship (required for security clearance eligibility).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued DoD Confidential security clearance (active or transferable clearance preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

• Tool development experience (jigs, fixtures, specialized packaging).
• Knowledge and application of CORE continuous improvement principles and techniques.
• Experience with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
• Active DoD Confidential clearance.
• Experience developing new manufacturing processes to support volume production.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $86,800 – $165,200 USD. The range is representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
