Sr. Manager, Talent Advisor
About the role
As the Senior Manager, Talent Advisor, you will hold a high-visibility global leadership role overseeing the Career Managers who support our technical consulting group of employees worldwide. You will architect scalable talent strategies, advance career frameworks, and partner with executive leadership across Customer Success and People teams to elevate global talent growth and retention. This role is based at our HQ in McLean, VA and requires in-office presence 5 days a week to foster collaboration and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a global team of Career Managers, providing direct mentorship, establishing performance benchmarks, and driving operational excellence across worldwide career management operations.
- Architect and modernize comprehensive Technical Consulting Frameworks to accelerate consultant career pathways, technical skill acquisition, and engagement across global practices.
- Partner with Global Leaders across Customer Success and People teams to align talent development strategies with regional business objectives, long-term workforce planning and Appian talent strategy.
- Oversee global performance management, including promotion calibration, structured feedback cycles, and talent assessment processes in collaboration with the Customer Success Leadership Team, HRBPs, Project Engagement Managers and Technical Advisors.
- Optimize talent operations and feedback tracking tools to enhance retention, career satisfaction, and team readiness across global consulting teams.
- Champion company culture built on Intensity and Excellence, ensuring high-touch career guidance and leadership development standards across all regions.
- Build scalable career experiences and development frameworks that can be leveraged across multiple functions as Appian's talent strategy evolves.
- Identify opportunities to expand career management programs beyond Customer Success, developing solutions that support broader technical and business organizations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in HR, Talent Management, or Career Counseling within a consulting or professional services environment.
- 3+ years of direct People Management experience leading HR, Talent, or Career Management professionals.
- Demonstrated experience designing and executing Technical Consulting Frameworks and Performance Management programs for global technical workforces.
- Proven track record of strategic collaboration with Executive Leadership to drive global talent retention and workforce capabilities.
- Experience supporting Customer Success, Professional Services, Consulting, or other technical organizations is preferred.
- Highly organized with a proven ability to manage global talent processes, set strategic milestones, and maintain goal tracking across matrixed teams.
- Skilled at engaging senior leadership, navigating challenging conversations, and driving consensus during complex situations.
- An adaptable leader who thrives in fast-changing environments, leading with insightful questions to unlock practical solutions.
- Highly collaborative mindset focused on building strong partnerships across different teams.
Pay
Base Salary Range: $150,000 USD - $275,000 USD. Actual compensation will be dependent on relevant work experience, qualifications, internal peer equity, and market conditions. A discretionary bonus may be awarded in recognition of individual and company performance.
